English IV: Post 8 - English language challenges

Imagen
I consider that English at the university is more applied to do work with it, read papers and clearly teach how to cope with a conversation, it is much more applied. I consider that the blogs have helped me to develop my linguistic skills a little more, although I am not an expert and I still have a lot of work to do, I think that the blog has contributed to this, however I have to admit that I get help with it, there are many words that I forget or that I simply don't know, referred to that I have many things to improve, starting with the huge vocabulary that I still don't learn, also how to develop conversations and how to speak without getting nervous because my English is bad. However, I still don't give up with the language because I like it a lot, but I know that it will take me a long time to master it. With this I think I have to read more, listen more and study more English, for now I learn English with songs with movies, I usually watch them subtitled to listen to...

English IV: Post 7 - Changes to my study programme

Imagen
Given the pandemic context, there are several things that I did not like about the geography study program, starting with the amount of work that has to be handed in and the fact that they are all in groups, although it is easier to review this way, I do not consider it a good way to evaluate since the collective work is evaluated and not the individual work, although they are application work, which is very good, I consider that from time to time individual work is much more profitable.  On the other hand, I consider that the hours that one is in front of a computer is very tiring, especially since the schedule is designed to have the course in a single day, so being three to four hours, with only ten minutes of rest is very tiring, especially when some teachers do not respect that time. What I do consider that has been beneficial is the program that we geography students use (ArcGIS) because it is much more personalized learning, the teacher takes the time for every doubt, both a...

English IV: Post 6 - Time travel to the future

Imagen
Since I was a little girl, one of my dreams was to travel around the world, it is still my dream, that is why I hope to be able to fulfill it once I graduate from my career and have a stable job  that will allow me to save enough money and not depend completely on travel credits. I would like to know mainly the countries of the extreme north of Europe, Asia and Chile from north to south.  I would like to know the countries of the extreme north of Europe mainly for their landscape and climatic conditions, which are to my total liking, where the heat is not so intense and where the winter is cold, such as Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Denmark, I would also like to visit those countries because I love their languages.  In Asia I would be interested in getting to know countries where the Buddhist religion is predominant, since I am very interested in their culture and their way of living day to day life  know Buddhism as a way of life, not as a religion.  Within ...

English IV: Post 5 - My future job

Imagen
As a geography student my goal is to be able to contribute to the development of the country in a safe and responsible way, considering the pros and contras of living in a mountainous country with large legacies that could eventually affect the population. I imagine my work with a lot of field work, with interaction between the field and its relationship with the population that lives there, knowing their concerns, and providing solutions that allow them to live safely in that place. At present I have no idea how much a geographer earns, but I hope that eventually my salary will allow me to have a house, to travel, and to have a relatively comfortable life since I don't consider that I need great luxuries to live, In the future I would like to continue studying and specialize in glaciology, I love this area, it is my dream to learn more about glaciology, and if I have the opportunity to study abroad I would go without looking back, because learning is the future, as they say o...

English IV: Post 4 - How the pandemic have affected my studies

Having online classes is dependent completely in a computer, you must stay all day in front of the screen, is so exhausting. personally, I hate it. other thing that is so tiring, is the connection to internet, in my case I passed 2 years in my house outside of Santiago so I had day with very bad connection that kept me from go to classes normally. T he online classes these 2 years have damaged my eyesight as well, initially I already had problems but the brightness of the computer made it worse, and it is very sad.  Fortunately, for 3 years I had classroom classes and I can compare, also now that I have a classroom class. it is much less stressful, you can separate very well the spaces and times, we do not depend on the internet, in my case I also have a university sister and many times we both could not use the same connection. the study spaces were very varied, access to the library and I did not have to be thinking about family fights, etc.  Luckily I have never had any pro...

English IV: Post 3 - My favorite music

Imagen
I've always enjoyed listening to music, with my dad I always listened to the radio, he made me sleep with music when I was little so I have a nice memory with music. I have memories of listening to a lot of music from the 70's, 80's and 90 's , now from time to time I still listen to it, as it gives me peace, and brings back nice memories,  one of the songs I have in my memory is sailing by  Christopher Cross, my dad really like this song.  We used to listen to the Bee Gees, Tears For Fears, U2, a-ha, and still do, we like them a lot. I don't listen to many artists these days, but I really enjoy listening to my favorite singers. My music style is varied, I listen to alternative music, indie, pop, kpop, rock, hip-hop, electronic.  I don't listen to a lot of American pop, but I do listen to music from countries like Sweden, Norway.  My favorite artists are Twenty one pilots that I listen to since 2013 and their music helps me to calm stress and anxiety as wel...

My last vacation it was in summer of 2020, just before the first cuarentine, I went to Reserva Nacional Los Bellotos in Región del Maule, I went with 2 friends and my sister, we stayed there for 4 days and 3 night. We did a lot of activities like trekking in a mountain. We started our tour at 7:00 a.m. and returned at 6:00 p.m., then went for a swim in a swimming hole. Throughout the trip we did several trekkng trails. The best of that trip was the nature, the landscape was beautiful, the water was crystal clear and very refreshing, in conclusion the trip worth it. The reserve is located in the Maule Region, Linares Province, Colbún Commune, and according to information from CONAF was created on January 20, 1995.  It stands out for the protection of bird species such as the black woodpecker, peregrine falcon, eagle, loica and chuncho, regarding the flora, are the maulino oak, raulí, coigüe, cypress of the mountain range, cinnamon and peumo. So,  I recommend you ...
